Never Idle - Edition #26

The Moments

Edition #26

Read Time: 2 Minutes

Watch Time: 4.5 Minutes

Hi All!

Welcome back! Or should you be saying that to me? Ah whatever, we’re back together, that’s what’s important 🙂

This week I want to share some personal news in my life.

But before I do, I want to make it relevant to all of you.

You know those moments in life that feel like they only come up once in a blue moon? Those types of moments that seem to be the culmination of years of hard work, persistence, or experience.

Buying a house.

Graduating college.

Making your first dollar online.

Whatever it is.

They are things that live as a moment but were built through consistent efforts along the way.

In those moments, you just want time to stop so you can soak it all in and embrace the rewards — the fruits of your labor.

Well, today in an effort to make one of those moments last just a little bit longer for me personally, I want to share some news.

Today marks mine and my wife’s 3-year anniversary of marriage (and 18-year anniversary of being together).

But wait…that’s not the news.

That is the effort. That is the years of working on a relationship.

Compromising.

Loving unconditionally.

Being unwaveringly faithful.

Sharing laughs and lows.

Doing it all together.

Well, that effort has culminated in a very special moment for us.

Here it is:

Years together to bring life into this world together.

A beautiful thing.

Here is something I have been thinking about a lot recently, that I want to leave you with.

What if we didn’t necessarily think of these moments as just moments?

What if instead, we thought of them as building blocks for new moments in addition to the beautiful individual moments they are?

Take the above news for example.

The moment we found out we were pregnant led to the moment we found out we were having a boy.

And when we have him next year, that moment will lead to many more beautiful moments.

His first steps.

His first words.

And so on.

I encourage you to stack your precious moments.

Build a house of them.

So that you are no longer living years of life all for a few blips in time but rather you are relishing in the stepping stones you are creating along the way.

You don’t want to overlook the small things and then look back and realize they were actually the big things.

Moments are precious.

You just have more of them than you think.

Slow down so you can see them.
